In the same way that we feed our physical body daily we also feed our mind daily! What are you feeding it? Some people are more particular about what they feed themselves physically than what they feed their minds.
Are you going to lunch with co-workers that are talking negative or gossiping about others in the office? What are you watching, reading, or listening to?
There may be some junk food we need to totally cut out of our diet… insecurity, doubts, self-pity, fear, resentment, anger and discouragement! Many of us have dealt with one form of loss or another. We have to be careful not to let a season of mourning turn into a lifetime of it. I heard it said this last week, don’t put a question mark where God has put a period! I totally understand this is so much easier said than done!
When we get too focused on the things we don’t have or things that have been taken away from us, sometimes we miss what God is trying to do for us today!
We have to look at the people we are spending time with. Do you have friends or family members that you love dearly but they drain you mentally when you are together? If you have the option, spending time with them might need to be cut back on your new mental diet.
Philippians 4:4-8 (NLT) Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Focus daily on the things you have to be thankful and grateful for!
Do you have friends that energize or inspires you? Encourages and challenges you? Seek these people out! I love having people in my life that challenge me to be kinder, give more grace, to be more generous, and to live with Joy, just by how they live out their everyday life!
Take time this week to truly think about what you are feeding your mind!
