Do you want to be a history maker?

A few years ago, I agreed to join a “goals group”.  A lady that I’ve known for many years ask if any of her Facebook friends wanted to join her once a month starting at the first of the year, to share our goals with each other. It sounded intriguing, so I went to the first meeting. Besides the friend that hosted it, I only casually knew one other lady that came. It was a small group of 7 or 8 ladies. The first gathering we shared a little about ourselves and some of our goals for that year. We wanted to help hold each other accountable to those goals, so on top of the monthly meetings we formed a Facebook group. We would share different material, articles, books and so on with each other that we thought was helpful. One suggestion that one of the ladies brought to the group was to pick a song that spoke to us and motivated us. Then we were to preferably listen to that song everyday. There are so many to choose from, but I went with Hillsong’s “History Maker”.  This is a sampling of the lyrics:

Is it true today that when people pray, Cloudless skies will break
Kings and queens will shake, Yes it’s true and I believe it
I’m living for you

Is it true today that when people pray, We’ll see dead men rise
And the blind set free…

I’m gonna be a history maker in this land, I’m gonna be a speaker of truth to all mankind

Well it’s true today that when people stand, With the fire of God, and the truth in hand
We’ll see miracles…

(To hear the whole song, you can check it out on YouTube) This song motivates me and challenges me! It talks about standing with God, speaking the truth and praying! I love that you can be a history maker if you are the mother to one child. You can be a history maker, to your neighbor, to your co-worker… unless you live on an island by yourself, your life has influence! “To the world, you may be just one person, but to that one person, you may be the world!”

Our Pastor reminds us often “my availability, allows God the opportunity to do a miracle through me”.  I heard someone else say recently, “if you think you’re too small to make a difference you haven’t been in bed with a mosquito!”

The thought of being a history maker, may sound powerful to some and overwhelming to others. When you really listen to these lyrics you realize it’s nothing about what we can do on our own. It’s about what can happen when we lean on, trust in, run to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! The community center that we worked at this last week in Curundu, Panama has a logo that says “Juntos Podemos”, which means “Together We Can”.
